Keo Lan Mountain is often likened to the “Dong Van Stone Plateau.”
Location and Splendor of Keo Lan Mountain
Keo Lan Mountain is situated in Phac Chi village, Dong Van commune, Binh Lieu district, Quang Ninh province. Resembling a pair of giant scissors rising amidst vast reed fields, the mountain stands at an altitude of approximately 1,200 meters above sea level, near border marker 1327. This newly discovered gem has quickly become a magnet for travelers passionate about exploring nature and authentic local culture.
From the summit of Keo Lan, you are treated to breathtaking panoramic views of Binh Lieu and the bordering Chinese territory, where you can truly immerse yourself in the vast, serene majesty of nature. You will also encounter border marker 1298, a profound symbol of patriotism and the enduring bond between the people of Vietnam and China. It is the perfect spot to capture memorable photos or leave heartfelt wishes for peace and friendship.
The defining feature of this peak is its expansive stone field, stretching out across the horizon against the vast, open sky. The landscape is adorned with rock formations of all shapes and sizes—some flat like tabletops, others standing tall like ancient fortress walls, and some small, scattered stones barely rising above ankle height. Many visitors compare the scenery to the famed Ha Giang Stone Plateau; however, while Ha Giang’s landscape is defined by sharp, jagged “cat-ear” rocks, the stones at Keo Lan are distinctively rounder and softer. These unique formations provide spectacular backdrops for your creative photography.

Beyond the stone field, the summit also features serene water pools surrounded by lush, verdant grass, often visited by grazing buffalo, which adds to the tranquil atmosphere. Along the trekking trail, you will have the chance to admire ancient bayberry trees and savor the sweet, refreshing taste of wild bayberries—a unique fruit native to the mountainous regions of Northeast Vietnam.
