Greetings, everyone! It is Pan here, extending a warm welcome to you all. In this edition, join me as we travel to one of Quang Ninh’s hottest destinations: the Yoko Onsen Quang Hanh hot spring resort. Located in Cam Pha City, Quang Ninh, this sanctuary is just over a two-hour drive from Hanoi and approximately 30 km from Ha Long City.

Yoko Onsen Quang Hanh is a premier 5-star Japanese-style hot spring complex. The opening of this brand-new resort has sparked immense curiosity and excitement—which is exactly why I am here today. As soon as you step into the lobby, you are greeted by stunning Japanese-inspired decor and staff dressed in traditional attire, creating a truly exquisite atmosphere.

The resort offers an array of premium services, including private villas, carbonated baths, cave baths, rock baths, lush garden-view baths, communal pools, and jacuzzis, alongside various Japanese-style sauna experiences. Beyond these unique wellness offerings, the authentic Japanese architecture is a highlight in itself, making Yoko Onsen a paradise for those who love to capture beautiful, “Instagrammable” moments.

The first floor of Yoko Onsen features halls, dining rooms, mineral bathing areas, public relaxation rooms, and a cinema. The mineral bathing area is divided into four zones: private male baths, private female baths, communal baths, and saunas. The changing area is quite spacious and organized into zones A, B, C, and D, each containing numerous lockers. To access your assigned locker, simply tap your wristband against the scanner located beneath the TVs in the room. A layout of the locker area will appear on the screen, and your specific locker will be indicated by a blue arrow pointing to the locker code—for example, A007 (where A denotes the zone and 007 the locker number).

Once you arrive at your designated locker, use your wristband to tap the sensor on the door. If it is the correct locker, the light will turn green, allowing you to open it effortlessly. If it is not your assigned space, the light will remain red, and the locker will stay securely locked. Each locker stands approximately 1 meter high and is equipped with two hangers, perfect for storing your belongings before heading to the bathing area.

The public bathing zone features a large mineral pool located indoors, with a maximum capacity of 15–20 guests. Just 5–7 meters away, you will find a variety of other spacious mineral baths. This entire area is essentially an expansive bathing complex, offering diverse experiences such as single-person ceramic tubs and “Dao Vien” (Peach Garden) baths, each with unique sizes and styles to ensure a fresh, engaging experience for every visitor.
Furthermore, each section is categorized by varying water temperatures. The setting is truly enchanting, surrounded by majestic mountains and the melodic sounds of birdsong. It is the perfect harmony of tranquil hot water immersion and the crisp, refreshing air of nature.
If you wish to follow the traditional mineral bathing etiquette, please refer to the 8-step guide displayed at the entrance. We highly recommend reading these instructions carefully to ensure the most rejuvenating onsen experience.

A quick tip: there is no need to remove your wristband when entering the baths, as the Yoko Onsen wristbands are fully waterproof. Please remember to bring swimwear (material must be non-absorbent) if you intend to use the public bathing area, where both men and women can bathe together. If you do not have swimwear, you will be restricted to the private bathing zones. Should you forget your gear, you can purchase it at the gift shop near the entrance, priced at 150,000 VND for men and 199,000 VND for women.

Relaxing in the hot spring while enjoying the fresh mountain air

Relaxing in the hot spring while enjoying the fresh mountain air

Submerging yourself in therapeutic hot mineral water after a long period of stress and work exhaustion is an incredible experience. If your schedule allows, I suggest spending two full days here to truly savor every service offered; there is so much to explore that you will find it difficult to leave.

After your mineral bath, I recommend visiting the sauna area. There is an array of saunas ranging from traditional styles to sophisticated Japanese designs that will surely impress any visitor. There are four main sauna types available: hot, cold, stone, and salt saunas.

The cold sauna is maintained at a brisk 9°C, providing an instant cooling sensation. This is perfect for the summer months, offering a refreshing relief from the heat. Conversely, the hot saunas are kept at a soothing 40–50°C, perfect for inducing relaxation and perspiration.

Immediately following the sauna, there is a cold plunge shower where you can rinse off to help firm the skin and refresh your body after the mineral bath. While private bathing rooms are also available, given the personal nature of those areas, I will not be reviewing them in this article.

Exquisite dishes at Ruyan Restaurant

Having arrived at 10:00 AM, we headed straight for a rejuvenating soak before making our way to the second floor for lunch. The second level is impressively spacious, housing the Ruyan Restaurant alongside a communal relaxation area. To enter the dining area, simply check in with the reception staff using your wristband. Typically, your entry ticket includes a complimentary buffet lunch or dinner; since we arrived in the morning, we opted for the lunch service, which is available daily from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM.

The buffet area is expansive, comfortably accommodating several hundred guests at once. The menu features a sophisticated blend of Vietnamese and Japanese culinary highlights, ranging from classic Pho and Bun Bo to authentic Ramen and various grilled meats. The undeniable star of the show—and a favorite among many guests—is the fresh salmon sashimi, which tastes absolutely sublime when paired with traditional pickled ginger and wasabi.

Following our meal, we retreated to the communal relaxation area, which is lined with traditional Japanese-style tatami mattresses. With plenty of space available, you never have to worry about finding a quiet spot to lay back and enjoy a midday nap.
