Located in the Northeast of Vietnam, within the Van Don district of Quang Ninh province, Ngoc Vung remains one of the few island communes that has preserved its pristine beauty. It is home to a rich array of historical sites, including the Cong Yen wharf, the ancient Ngoc Vung citadel, the 12.7mm artillery position used by islanders during the resistance against the US, and the Uncle Ho memorial site. Among these treasures, Truong Chinh Beach stands out as one of the most magnificent beaches in the northern region.

Truong Chinh Beach
Truong Chinh Beach is situated on the southern side of Ngoc Vung Island. Stretching for approximately 3 kilometers, it boasts crystal-clear turquoise waters and soft, white sands fringed by rows of verdant casuarina trees. Seen from above, Ngoc Vung resembles a shimmering green pearl floating amidst the waves, with the beach curving like a silk ribbon wrapped around the island, creating a breathtakingly poetic landscape. Beyond its untouched, serene beauty, Truong Chinh Beach holds deep historical significance. During the American War, Ngoc Vung received great attention from the state, and the late leader Truong Chinh once visited the island via a naval vessel. According to local elders, in 1962, he arrived at the island, waded ashore from the southern coast, and walked along a trail to meet and speak with the local soldiers and civilians. To commemorate the spot where he first stepped onto the island, the locals named the island’s most beautiful beach “Truong Chinh Beach,” and the adjacent trail was aptly named Truong Chinh Road.
Today, Truong Chinh Beach is one of the most enticing landmarks and destinations on Ngoc Vung. Visitors can indulge in a refreshing swim, take leisurely strolls along the fine white sand, or engage in recreational activities. You may also explore the nearby Artillery Island and Zola Island located at either end of the beach, or take a boat trip to discover Phuong Hoang, Phuong Mai, Ha Mai, and Dat Nut islands. An especially unique experience awaits those who wish to try their hand at raking for clams or catching shrimp along the shore—a traditional livelihood of the Ngoc islanders passed down through generations.
With its convenient location allowing for easy travel to other notable sites such as the ancient Ngoc Vung citadel and the historic Cong Yen wharf, Truong Chinh Beach is truly a highlight of Ngoc Vung that no visitor should miss when exploring this island commune.
